Electrically heated thermal oil system

Emission-free process heat for industrial applications

What is an electrically heated thermal oil system?

An electrically heated thermal oil system generates industrial process heat using electric heating elements that directly heat the circulating thermal oil within a closed loop. The heat is produced without combustion, is emission-free at the installation site and offers high control precision.

Thermal oil systems are extremely efficient in heat transfer and have very low wear. No additional boiler room is required for electrcally heated systems, allowing easy integration into existing production environments. In addition, the system enables particularly gentle and precise heating of the thermal oil. This makes electrically heated thermal oil systems suitable for almost all industries, including the food industry, pharmaceutical operations, crude oil processing and biogas upgrading.

System Properties:

AURA´s electrically heated thermal oil systems are designed for industrial processes with medium power requirements and can achieve temperatures of up to 450°C with capacities ranging from 100kW to 6000kW.

Exemplary system: 1100kW, 165 m3/h, 250°C includes tube bundle heat exchanger (also build by AURA)

Operating Principle

The thermal oil is heated in the return line of the circuit by electric heating elements integrated into a tubular heater. The heating elements are directly built into the piping system. As the medium flows through, it is heated to the desired operating temperature and then fed back into the system loop. Temperature control is fully automatic via:

  • Temperature sensors
  • Power controllers
  • Temperature regulators
  • Safety devices

The heating output can be continuously adjusted to match the current process demand.

Advantages

  • Emission-free production possible
  • Compact design
  • Low maintenance effort
  • Can be integrated into existing systems
